Our April awards assembly was held on Friday, April 26th. Students were recognized for academic excellences as well as improvement in their academics or behavior.
Each month, teachers focus on teaching one of McGill’s Core Values. During the months of April, students learned about and practiced Empathy. One student from each class receives a Core Value tee shirt. During the month of May, students will learn the Core Value, Cooperation.
The Parent Committees meets the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting will be, Thursday, May 9th. Please attend to finalize the Cinco de Mayo celebration plans.
Our Head Start pre-kindergarten students are beginning the transition into kindergarten. In the coming weeks, the pre-kindergarten students will also attend assemblies, visit kindergarten classrooms, and have snacks with the kindergarten students. We are now accepting applications for 2013/2014 Head Start through third grade. McGill will be offering transitional kindergarten for those children born between October 2, 2008 and December 2, 2008. Enrollment applications can be picked up at the front office. Ask for Ms. Michelle.
Our next Family Friday will be held on Friday, April 12th. Family Friday is a special occasion when family members are invited to go into their child’s classroom and read to their child for one half hour. After the reading session, families are invited to meet with the principal for coffee and conversation about the student’s classroom and the progress of the school. I
